“…Those who do evil things do them because they are evil. Only, you are the exception because your beasts aren’t tamed, and you can’t be expected to control them. You look at your own crimes, at the hard warrior you’ve become, and you tell yourself you had no choice.” -Mannix
My rating for this book is 4/5 stars. I found that even though this book was the second in the trilogy, it seemed to have more action, heart pounding moments, and a more interesting plot. I think it made a wonderful second book, since most in normal series are not that great.
Without giving too much away, since it is the second book, I want to say that the characters and the love triangle were my favorite part. This book follows our main character and her struggle to defeat an army of people. Throughout the book she learns more about herself, her brother and her Dieties.
It was really interesting how Emily Wibberley was able to come up with a past for a specific diety and have this book surround the spiritual aspect of Clio’s life. Although it felt different from the previous plot, I liked the new characters and new struggles that were presented in this book.
I’m not sure how many times I was frustrated with this book (in a good way), laughed along while reading, and wanted to slow down the speed of my reading so it would never end. I am very happy I was able to read it; it is one of the best books I have read and I recommend it to everyone who enjoys mysteries, love triangles, as well as twists and turns.
***I did receive this from the author for her book tour, but of course my opinions are 100% my own!***
